Reiki is a practice that promotes and accelerates healing and balance of the body, mind and spirit.
Reiki is a Japanese word, pronounced ray-key, which means energy of the soul, spirit or universe.
The Usui System of Reiki Healing, or Usui Shiki Ryoho, applies this energy through gentle touch for the purpose of healing. Among the many thousands of Reiki students all over the world, most will agree that “universal life energy” is only a minimal description of Reiki’s extraordinary force. In her early diary, Hawayo Takata, the woman who brought the Usui System of Reiki out of Japan, stated, “This power (Reiki) is unfathomable, immeasurable, and being a universal life force, it is incomprehensible to man. Yet, every single living being is receiving its blessings daily, awake and asleep.”

irst Degree Reiki class enables you to offer the healing energy of Reiki to yourself and others through hands-on treatments. You will learn the history of Reiki, hand positions for self-treatment and the treatment of others, and ways to use Reiki to the fullest in your life. Specific interests of each student will be addressed, including offering Reiki professionally and to family and friends. First Degree Reiki is a profound, life-long gift for yourself and those you love!
Elizabeth Ohmer Pellegrin is a Reiki Master Teacher and Practitioner who has been practicing Reiki for twenty six years. She is the founder and director of The Reiki Center of New Orleans and is Louisiana and the Gulf Coast’s only member of The Reiki Alliance. She is also a trained international teacher and practitioner of Australian Bush Flower Essences and a practitioner of Young Living Essential Oils. Other modalities she has studied include Shiatsu, Orthobionomy, Hand and Foot Reflexology, Massage, Homeopathy and Herbal Remedies (by Hannah Kroeger), NADA 5 Point Ear Acupuncture, Shamanism and Divination.
Elizabeth is a devoted healer and teacher, practicing throughout the country and internationally, and fostering healing communities that cross borders of location, identity, and life experience.
