My Experience and Training

I bring a breadth of experience and training to our work together, including an MA with Distinction in Dance and Somatic Wellbeing from the University of Central Lancashire, a BA in Dance and Visual Arts from Oberlin College, traditional training and mentorship in Reiki, Usui Shiki Ryoho, and rigorous entrepreneurial training. I am a Board Member and Registered Somatic Movement Educator with the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association, the leading professional organization growing the field of Somatic Movement Education and Therapy.

I started teaching healing and wellbeing through the arts way back in high school, and since then I have taught groups and individuals in a wide variety of settings, including yoga and dance studios, colleges, women’s shelters, schools, camps, HIV/AIDS wellness organizations, and conferences. I have also been honored as a guest teacher and performer at SOMAfest NYC, Falls Bridge Improvisation Festival, Oberlin College, Swarthmore College, and in various other contexts throughout and beyond Philadelphia.

I began my somatic education officially in college, where I was studying interdisciplinary arts with an intensive focus on improvisational dance/movement and installation art. This unapologetic focus on the arts honed my skills of creative problem solving and manifesting visions in the physical world. It also served as my foundation for following my body’s wisdom, and being a fierce advocate for others doing the same.

After college I spent a year teaching somatic practices and creative arts in New Orleans, where I also studied Reiki in the Usui Shiki Ryoho tradition. I then returned to Philadelphia to develop and offer these practices for my communities at home. In both winding and direct ways, this intention has led me to developing The Visioning Body, to support YOU in contributing to the world’s evolution while honoring the fullness of who you are.
I like to keep my knowledge fresh and inspired through continued creative and somatic research, as well as professional trainings in Reiki, somatics, dance improvisation, and entrepreneurial leadership. Through all of my work, I am devoted to kindling a sense of joy and empowerment for being alive in our bodies and evolving world.

Lee possesses warmth, dedication and a keen intellect; she is an astute, inspiring and compassionate teacher and practitioner whom I would recommend to anyone.”
